What Makes Air Doors Unique
You might be wondering what is that contraption that you see ever time that you go to the supermarket or commercial establishment, that when you enter through the door a seemingly curtain of air pushes down on you. Those contraptions are called air doors and they are there for a purpose.
Before we go any further a short but clear description of an air door or air curtain is needed. It is actually an application that is placed above a door or entrance of an air conditioned establishment. It releases a powerful curtain of air the length of the whole entrance the purpose of which is the prevention of unconditioned air or flying insects from entering that space.
Industrial climate control is one of the best uses of an air door. These air curtains are more commonly found in the shipping and receiving rooms or traffic doors of plants, factories and warehouses where the quality of the air need to be controlled every single time otherwise their products or goods might be affected. An air curtain is then designed to have its air nozzle pointed at the direction of the incoming air, usually air coming from the outside from another room. When these two air streams collide, they will push each other downward to the floor, resulting to that curtain of air that we feel each time we pass through it.
When you have a big oven you might wonder if you can prevent the hot air escaping from its door and just confine it so the extra heat will not go to waste and instead further help in the cooking process. Now you can with the help of air curtain doors. Just have one installed horizontally on top of your oven and have the air streaming from it pointed right at the opening of your oven. The air door will then help in preventing hot air from your oven from escaping, in the process helping you save up to 40 percent of oven fuel consumption.
For air conditioned rooms that are frequented by many people and therefore a door that is always being opened will just result in letting hotter air in every single time, the installation of air doors are very much preferred. The air curtain, as always, is aimed at the incoming hotter outside air helping in the maintenance of the temperature inside the air conditioned room. This is also effective during winter when the colder outside air is stopped from going inside the warmer area.
In places where dust and humidity levels must be strictly controlled, having one of these devices will make perfect sense. With the air door placed over the doorway and aimed toward the area where dust is expected to enter, the whole room can be made free from dust (at least at desirable levels) without affecting the need for the constant coming and going of personnel. It controls the quality of the air while contributing to better production.
